Q14|Makeup on Microneedling Day?

Aug 30, 20254 min read

Your 0–72 Hour Makeup & “Avoid-This” Checklist

In 2013, the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine established the cellular “vesicle trafficking” mechanism—essentially the instruction manual for how cells package and deliver signals. That insight helps us understand and modulate exosome formation and release, opening possibilities in skin and aesthetic care. Exosomes have since been widely explored as one of the most promising ways to break long-standing bottlenecks in regeneration and repair.

TL;DR

  • Skip makeup on microneedling day. For at least 24 hours, avoid color cosmetics and heavy/long-wear sunscreens; for 48–72 hours, avoid sauna, intense workouts, and strong sun.

  • D0 game plan: gentle cleanse → freshly reconstituted exosomes (full vial) → 10–15 min calming mask → light barrier cream → broad-spectrum/physical SPF + shade.

  • Need to be on camera? Use the “emergency minimal-irritation” plan below.

Why no makeup on D0?

  • Micro-channels are not closed yet (0–6 h): pigments, preservatives, and fragrance are more likely to sting.

  • Barrier is temporarily weakened (24–48 h): film formers/solvents in foundations can amplify tightness and redness.

  • Hygiene risk: sponges/brushes harbor microbes—post-procedure use raises contamination odds.

  • Heat & friction: heavier makeup needs heavier removal; heat/steam and scrubbing magnify irritation.

Timeline: what to do from

0–72 hours

D0 (procedure day)

Do: gentle cleanse (<30 s) → EXO-Lyospheres™ fresh-mix, full vial → 10–15 min calming sheet → thin barrier cream.

Outdoors: prioritize hat/umbrella/mask; if SPF is a must, use a thin mineral/physical, non-waterproof formula.

Avoid: makeup (foundation/concealer/setting sprays), heavy/waterproof SPF, hot water/steam, intense exercise.

D1 (24–48 h)

Suggested: continue thin exosome layer; hydration + repair first.

If you must be on camera: tinted mineral sunscreen or a sheer tinted repair cream—fingertip tap only (no puffs/brushes). Remove with gentle emulsifying cleanser + short wash.

Still avoid: acids/exfoliants/high-% L-AA/strong retinoids, high-alcohol or heavy-fragrance products.

D2–D3 (48–72 h)

If calm (no hot sting): allow light, dewy base (non-long-wear) + pinpoint concealer. Apply small amounts, light tapping.

Removal: 1× mild makeup remover + 1× amino-acid cleanser; total <60 s; avoid hot compress and scrubbing.

Still avoid: sauna/intense workouts/strong sun and heavy makeup.

≥D4

Resume light everyday makeup if skin is steady. Leave “24-h wear / waterproof” formulas until ≥D7.

Emergency plan if you

must

wear makeup on D0–D1

  • Prep: thin layer of freshly mixed exosomes → wait 3–5 min → small amount of barrier cream.

  • Base: tinted mineral SPF or sheer tinted repair cream instead of foundation; fingertip tapping only.

  • Spot-conceal: cover only blemish areas; avoid full-face stacking.

  • Set: micro-mist hydrating spray or alcohol-free setting; avoid strong-alcohol/fragrance mists.

  • Tools: single-use sponge or tools disinfected with alcohol; never share.

  • Removal: gentle emulsify 30–45 s → amino-acid cleanse 20–30 s → saline mist → barrier cream.

How this pairs with our product rhythm

  • D0: within 0–60 min post-microneedling, fresh-mix full vial (one vial = one use) → calming mask.

  • D1–D3: thin exosome layers to consolidate barrier; mineral/physical SPF first when outdoors.

  • Repurchase cadence: every 7–10 days; Pro (1+1) / Max (2+2) / Ultra (3+3) cover 1/2/3 sessions. Fulfillment follows Fresh-Batch 48h (latest released batch + per-vial traceability).

Do & Don’t quick check

Do

  • Prioritize shade, thin mineral SPF, light tapping, single-use or disinfected tools, gentle removal.

  • If stinging/exudate worsens at any point: stop makeup; switch to repair + SPF only.

Don’t

  • Heavy makeup on D0, multi-layer foundations, waterproof/ultra long-wear bases, alcohol-heavy setting sprays.

  • Hot water/steam/sauna, intense workouts, strong sun; prolonged or forceful makeup removal.

Quick FAQ

Q: If SPF is mandatory on D0, what should I choose?

A: A thin, non-waterproof mineral/physical broad-spectrum SPF; keep it light, and lean on physical shade (hat/umbrella/mask).

Q: Can I use a cushion compact or puff?

A: Not ideal. If you must, use a single-use sponge and discard after; fingers are preferred.

Q: When can I go back to long-wear/waterproof base?

A: Typically ≥D7. If you’re still reactive, wait longer.

Q: What if I feel sting/redness after makeup?

A: Remove immediately; saline mist + barrier cream; no more makeup that night. Contact your professional if symptoms persist.

One-line wrap

Skipping makeup on D0 isn’t overcautious—it’s how you let micro-channels close cleanly. Delay the glam, nail fresh-mix exosomes + repair + physical SPF, and you’ll find day-2/3 skin comfort and makeup adhesion well worth the wait.
