A clear Red / Yellow / Green guide
In 2013, the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine established the cellular “vesicle trafficking” mechanism—essentially the instruction manual for how cells package and deliver signals. That insight helps us understand and modulate exosome formation and release, opening possibilities in skin and aesthetic care. As nanoscale couriers of intercellular messages, exosomes have since been widely explored for their potential—one of the most promising ways this century to overcome long-standing bottlenecks in regeneration and repair.
TL;DR
-
Red light (Do not use / Pause): active dermatitis or infection, open wounds/sunburn, severe rosacea flare, known allergy to any formula component, pregnancy or breastfeeding (see Q17).
-
Yellow light (Use only after professional advice): keloid-prone scarring, immune dysregulation or immunosuppressive therapy, oral isotretinoin within 6 months, recent medium–high strength peels/fractional/RF microneedling without full recovery, currently using strong actives on an unstable barrier.
-
Green light (Okay to use): stable skin for routine stabilization—patch test 24–48 h first, and follow one vial = one use, fresh-mix, 48 h use window.
Red light list (do not use / wait until fully recovered)
-
Active skin disease: acute eczema/dermatitis, bacterial/fungal/viral infections (e.g., cold sores), any weeping/purulent lesions.
-
Barrier breaks: open wounds, moderate–severe sunburn, abrasions/burns not yet re-epithelialized.
-
Rosacea flare: marked burning/flush with active telangiectasia.
-
Known allergy to any ingredient in the formula or the diluent system.
-
Pregnancy or breastfeeding: we recommend pausing (see Q17).
-
DIY microneedling at home: we don’t recommend it; if you insist, follow Q8’s ≤0.25 mm “minimum safety line”.
Yellow light list (consult first, then decide)
-
Keloid tendency / hypertrophic scarring.
-
Immune considerations: diagnosed immune disorders; current immunosuppressants/biologics; long-term systemic steroids.
-
Systemic meds: oral isotretinoin ≤6 months (including low-dose maintenance); anticoagulants/antiplatelets.
-
Strong actives on board with unstable skin: prescription retinoids/strong retinoids, AHA/BHA peels, high-% L-ascorbic acid.
-
Post-procedure recovery not complete: medium–high strength chemical peels, fractional (esp. ablative) lasers, or RF microneedling before heat subsides and re-epithelialization completes.
-
High PIH risk: strict sun protection and gentler cadence are essential.
Principle: lower irritation first → stabilize baseline → then re-introduce. If redness hasn’t settled or there is exudate, skip all functional products.
Green light (when skin is stable)
Appropriate for cosmetic soothing, hydration, and barrier support in routine care—provided you:
-
Patch test 24–48 h (behind ear/inner forearm).
-
Fresh-mix right before use; one vial = one session.
-
If you must split, refrigerate 2–8 °C and finish within 48 h.
Pre-/Post-procedure timing (quick map)
-
T−3 to T−7 (before): pause strong acids/strong retinoids/high-% vitamin C; use gentle cleanse + repair + SPF. You may do non-invasive exosome priming (see Q15).
-
D0 (procedure day): once device work is done and heat has settled with intact surface → apply freshly mixed exosomes within 0–60 min, then 10–15 min calming occlusion; no makeup that day (see Q14).
-
First 72 h: hydration/repair + broad-spectrum (prefer mineral) SPF only; avoid strong acids, strong retinoids, high-% L-AA, steam/sauna, and intense workouts.
-
≥D4–D7: re-introduce actives slowly as tolerated. Treatment cadence: every 7–10 days, 4–6 sessions per cycle.
Self-check & patch test (highly recommended for sensitive/allergy-prone)
-
Site: behind ear/inner forearm. Apply a pea-size amount over a coin-size area of the freshly mixed solution; observe 24–48 h.
-
Pass: faint, short-lived pinkness/tightness that settles within 24 h.
-
Fail: persistent burning, widespread erythema, papules/weeping, or worsening itch → stop and consult.
If you’ve applied and feel unwell—what to do
-
Stop all functional add-ons; use saline mist + repair cream only.
-
Cool, avoid heat: no hot water/steam, strenuous exercise, or heavy sun.
-
Document: keep LOT/Vial-ID, application time, and photos—helpful for traceability and support.
-
Red-flag signs: persistent exudate, frank pus/fever, or severe peri-orbital swelling → seek medical care promptly.
How this ties to our product design
-
Dosage form: EXO-Lyospheres™ freeze-dried powder + dedicated diluent; fresh-mix and use the whole vial once to minimize re-opening and contamination.
-
Storage: after mixing, refrigerate 2–8 °C and finish within 48 h. If you notice off-odor, distinct discoloration, flocs/strings, or broken seal, discard.
-
Fulfillment: Fresh-Batch 48h—within 48 hours of order we allocate the latest released batch, print per-vial labels, and temperature-protect shipping. Scan the QR to your Trace Page for COA snapshots and temp records.
Quick FAQ
Q: Mild acne/closed comedones—can I use it?
A: During stable phases, yes for hydration/barrier support. In pustular/oozing flares, stabilize first; resume after exudate stops.
Q: I’m using retinol/retinal—should I stop?
A: 3–7 days pre-procedure, pause. In non-procedure weeks, alternate at night as tolerated; avoid heavy same-night stacking.
Q: I stopped oral isotretinoin 3 months ago—okay now?
A: Many professionals advise waiting ≥6 months before micro-invasive procedures or intensifying cadence. Individualize with your clinician.
Q: Cold-sore (HSV-1) prone?
A: Do not use during outbreaks. When symptom-free, proceed only with professional guidance and strict sun care.
Compliance & scope note (site-ready)
Our products are cosmetics intended for surface-level skincare—soothing, hydration, and support of the skin barrier. They are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease. Please choose usage with professional evaluation according to your personal condition.
One-line wrap
Make “stop when you should, slow when you must” your first rule. With the Red/Yellow/Green checklist, plus patch test → fresh-mix → one vial per use → 48 h window and Fresh-Batch 48h traceability, you minimize variables—so exosome care can deliver exactly what you need in the cosmetic boundary: soothing, hydration, and barrier support.
